Job Description

Our Alberta client is looking for a high-impact ERP Solution Architect for a critical 6-month contract with the potential to convert to a permanent role. This is a high-visibility mission where you will take the lead on a major rescue and reform project, modernizing a legacy SAP environment and shaping the long-term enterprise strategy. If you are a seasoned expert who thrives on technical challenges and strategic leadership, this remote-friendly role offers the chance to drive a massive transformation before a key November milestone.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead solution architecture for SAP-related initiatives and issues that require immediate attention, with a focus on resolving high-priority technical constraints, integration limitations, supportability concerns, and architectural risks.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end Solution Blueprints for SAP-centric solutions, including business process flows, application interactions, integration patterns, data movement, security considerations, and operational implications.
  • Assess SAP configuration, customization, enhancement, and extension options, ensuring decisions are sustainable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles and platform realities.
  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks related to SAP platform constraints, technical debt, interfaces, batch processes, data quality, controls, and operational stability.
  • Provide architectural leadership on SAP-supported business processes and cross-system workflows relevant to enterprise environment, ensuring appropriate fit between business needs and platform capabilities.
  • Define how business capabilities should be allocated across SAP, CRM, analytics, integration, and domain-specific systems to avoid duplication, fragmentation, or inappropriate use of enterprise platforms.
  • Establish appropriate system-of-record boundaries, master data ownership, and data flow patterns across SAP and surrounding enterprise systems.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, integration standards, data standards, security controls, and enterprise system guardrails.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Security Architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to manage cross-domain and cross-system impacts.
  • Support implementation, stabilization, and operational transition activities to maintain architectural integrity across SAP and adjacent enterprise systems.
  • Define and govern transition-state architectures, including coexistence between legacy, SAP, and future-state platforms, ensuring continuity of operations and data integrity.
  • Support future-state ERP strategy by documenting current-state constraints, capability gaps, architectural lessons learned, and decision drivers that should inform long-term platform direction.
  • Contribute to the development of architecture requirements, evaluation criteria, and decision frameworks for a future ERP RFP process.
  • Provide architectural input into the evaluation of future platform options, including SAP and other enterprise ERP solutions, based on business fit, technical fit, integration complexity, risk, and long-term sustainability.
  • Help define transition considerations for moving from current-state ERP realities toward a target-state enterprise platform strategy.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • 12–18+ years of experience in enterprise IT, enterprise applications, and solution architecture within complex organizational environments.
  • 7–10+ years of experience working with SAP ERP solutions, including ECC and/or S/4HANA.
  • Proven experience in enterprise-level SAP architecture, including integration architecture, data architecture considerations, and system boundary design across SAP and surrounding enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ERP transformation programs in systems-integrator-led environments.
  • Strong understanding of finance-related ERP business processes, including Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Billing, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Experience designing ERP integration architectures involving multiple enterprise systems, platforms, interfaces, and data flows such as API-based integration, Event Driven Architecture, and batch design.
  • Demonstrated experience making and guiding configuration versus customization decisions, as well as defining ERP enhancement and extension strategies.
  • Experience working in environments with legacy system coexistence, phased transformation approaches, and transition-state architecture planning.
  • Experience addressing complex technical constraints, integration challenges, architectural risks, and platform decision points in enterprise ERP environments.
  • Experience working across business and technology teams to shape solution direction, support delivery, and guide long-term platform planning

Nice to have

  • Experience contributing to future-state planning, vendor evaluation, architecture requirements definition, or RFP-related activities for enterprise platforms is considered an asset.
  • Relevant architecture, ERP, SAP, or enterprise technology certifications are considered an asset.
