Job Description

As a Emergency Room Charge Nurse you will be a central figure in patient care, seamlessly navigating the healthcare journey to achieve optimal outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Strategically assess, plan, and facilitate comprehensive care across the continuum
  • Advocate for patients while collaborating with physicians, nursing, departments, insurers, and post-acute providers to ensure timely, high-quality transitions
  • Facilitate day-to-day operations of the Unit
  • Collaborate with staff, Nurse Managers, team leaders, supervisors, and physicians to ensure quality patient care is being provided with optimum patient outcomes
  • Function as a clinical and leadership mentor and coach to new and existing staff
  • Assist with preparation and oversight of unit schedules
  • Work with department management to balance schedules
  • Oversee and adapt the daily staffing plan to meet the department’s needs
  • Establish patient assignments for a team of employees
  • Participate in the peer interviewing process in the selection of unit staff
  • Provide input and feedback to the nurse manager/department leadership in regards to team performance

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license
  • BLS required before hire

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Admission to a BSN program within one year or obtainment of a Bachelor degree within 2 years of assuming position is strongly encouraged
  • Participation in the Nursing Career Advancement Program is preferred

  • Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies
  • Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures
  • Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner
  • Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards
