The Equities Settlement Officer, is an intermediate level position responsible for post trade activities within settlements/middle office operations, focusing on corporate actions, equities, and derivatives. The Operations team is small and requires team members to be multi-functional in the full life cycle of post trade activities.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all activities related to Corporate Action events and income processing on Cash Equities and Securities Lending activities
Process securities transactions, provide analytical support to traders, and review equity/derivative products
T1 to T3 trade monitoring, failed management
Stock Borrowing to facilitate Shorts in the market
Derivatives/OTC reconciliation
General Ledger Reconciliation (local and global systems)
Collateral/Margin calculations
Reg IM Collateral/Pledge
Month-end Fee and Interest
Daily Cash Flow forecasting
Funding
Vendor Invoicing
Requirements:
Previous experience in equity office operations within a financial institution, with a preference for experience in Equity, Derivatives, or Corporate Actions
JSE Settlement Officer Exam, ACI, UJ Markets or equivalent Operations qualification an advantage
Understanding of equity operations across cash equities, dual listed, equity conversions, corporate actions and equity futures
System Knowledge: multiple systems, both regional and global
JSE BDA and ECS systems, DTCC CTM/ALERT, SLAMS
PRIMO, FullSuite, GMI, an advantage
Microsoft applications
Experience interacting with settlement teams, middle office, clients, financial institutions and service providers internal/external
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
Rotational support for flexi-time roster will be required
Control-oriented, problem-solving, and a team player
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams and geographical locations
Experience or ability to drive process improvement and efficiency gains
Utilize data analysis to recommend process improvements, resolve settlement issues, and escalate complex problems
Contribute to projects involving new products, services, and platform upgrades
Identify policy gaps, formulate new policies to streamline trade flows, monitor errors to minimize risk, and ensure compliance with regulations and ethical practices
