We are looking for a detail-oriented Equity & Payroll Accountant to join our client in WA in a remote capacity. In this long-term contract role, you will manage payroll operations and equity-related employee earnings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with multi-state regulations. This position requires expertise in payroll systems and a commitment to maintaining precise financial records.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process employee earnings, including salaried and hourly pay, across multiple states using the Rippling payroll system
  • Input manual payroll changes such as reimbursements, one-time payments, and off-cycle payroll calculations
  • Handle equity-related payroll tasks, including taxable compensation modeling, tax validation, and coordination with equity platform providers
  • Manage wage garnishments and repayment plans while ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Conduct payroll audits to verify documentation and adherence to internal controls
  • Reconcile payroll data monthly, ensuring accurate integration between Rippling, NetSuite, and equity platforms
  • Set up and process new equity grants, validating automated changes within equity platforms
  • Address tax notices and collaborate with payroll system providers to resolve amendments and corrections
  • Communicate with international payroll providers to facilitate payments and equity events as needed
  • Prepare detailed payroll and journal reports for accounting reviews

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle payroll management
  • Proficiency in handling multi-state payroll operations and tax reporting
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, with experience in Rippling preferred
  • Familiarity with equity platforms such as Shareworks, E-Trade, or Fidelity
  • Advanced Excel skills for data management and analysis
  • Ability to conduct payroll audits and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations and journal reporting
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with providers and resolve discrepancies

  • Full-cycle processing of semi-monthly US payroll for 1000+ employees working in over 38 states while incorporating payroll data from multiple internal departments and external benefit providers. This includes maintaining supporting documentation and authorization for all changes
  • Responsible for creating reconciliation reports at month end, fiscal year end, and at the calendar year end for 401k, benefits, and Equity awards
  • May be responsible for preparing and keying multiple journal entries, weekly, monthly and as necessary for payroll related items
  • Assist with payroll compliance matters such as multi-state/multi-jurisdiction tax withholding, garnishments and key annual audits (e.g. 401 (k), workers compensations, external financial audit)
  • Research and advise payroll staff concerning the accounting treatment of complex transactions
