Requirements

1 year experience operating trucks, dozers, graders, backhoes, and/or excavators
Class A license (ability to obtain Class A license within one year may be considered)
Current valid driver's license, with clean driving record
Experience safely towing various types of trailers
Basic understanding of logging, road construction, and forestry operations
Working knowledge of road, watercourse crossings, drainage, and erosion control construction and maintenance
Proven commitment to safety
Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member
Heavy Equipment Certification from an accredited school or program is preferred

Job Responsibility

Operate, maintain, and repair heavy equipment to effectively build road systems
Safely operate various types of heavy equipment, including: excavator, backhoe, grader, roller, dump truck, and water truck
Perform daily equipment maintenance and safety checks
Recognize and report needed maintenance and repairs
Operate a four-wheel drive vehicle and safely negotiate steep mountainous roads
Navigate mountainous areas using maps, GPS device, and tablet
Effectively work in various weather and field conditions
Work out-of-town on some forestry-related road system projects
