Job Description

M. R. Tanner Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and utilization of our construction equipment fleet. This role is critical to ensuring that all machinery is safe, reliable, and available to meet project demands. The Equipment Manager will work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and mechanics to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Job Responsibility

  • Fleet management: Oversee inventory, scheduling, and deployment of heavy equipment and vehicles
  • Maintenance coordination: Ensure timely servicing, inspections, and repairs in compliance with safety standards
  • Vendor relations: Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, rental companies, and service providers
  • Budget oversight: Track equipment costs, fuel usage, and maintenance expenses to optimize spending
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate records for inspections, certifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Team leadership: Supervise mechanics and support staff, providing training and guidance

Requirements

  • 5+ years in equipment management, fleet operations, or related construction roles
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
  • Strong ability to manage schedules, budgets, and documentation
  • Effective collaboration with field crews, supervisors, and vendors
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CDL a plus
