The Equipment Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of high-speed automated equipment used in the manufacturing of medical devices. This role includes performing preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and repairs, while supporting production teams with technical issues. The technician will also mentor associates, promote continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with BD quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Regular, punctual attendance and adherence to BD Values are essential.
Job Responsibility:
Perform hands-on maintenance and improvement activities on high-speed automated equipment
Perform consistent preventive maintenance checks and find opportunities for continuous improvement
Repair and maintain equipment
advance significant issues to the manufacturing technical lead
Operate, set up, adjust, and perform changeovers on production equipment
Monitor and maintain production quality, minimize downtime, and reduce waste
Document PM audits and corrective actions electronically in SAP
Analyze equipment failure trends and update PM work orders accordingly
Maintain equipment to meet quality and quantity standards, including cleaning and adjustments
Keep detailed equipment logs for downtime and maintenance activities
Coordinate major repairs with Maintenance, Engineering, and other technical teams
Ensure completion and closure of PM tasks in SAP
Verify machine functionality and safety guards before operation
Monitor production machinery for optimal performance and safety compliance
Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE usage, and report hazards promptly
Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals
Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with GMP and 5S standards
Use hand tools and basic electrical/mechanical tools for maintenance tasks
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
Basic oral and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Basic fixing and decision-making skills
Mechanical and electrical fundamentals
Control systems, robotics, and automation basics
PLC and vision system familiarity
Quality systems and GMP compliance
ERP systems (SAP) – Basic
