ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, working as a Tooling Engineer, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conducts the evaluation of project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System
  • Develop, identify, and implement conceptual designs while supporting the program architecture for build
  • Develops, participates and presents in design reviews and collects and documents design requirements
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines
  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and estimates for equipment and tooling
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements
  • Creates specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling
  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares
  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel
  • Develops and implements moderately complex work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing and/or production environment
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D modeling software
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • US based job, US Person required

Nice to have:

  • 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MESci), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), Unigraphics (UG/NX) and Visualization Mockup
