Job Description:

As a Full-Time Equestrian Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in supporting the smooth daily operation of our Equestrian Centre. This is a hands-on, varied position where you’ll work closely with instructors, riders, and the wider equestrian team to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests and ensure the highest standard of horse care and yard management. No two days are the same, and your passion for horses and the outdoors will shine through in everything you do.

Job Responsibility:

  • Groom horses before and after lessons
  • Feed and water horses according to daily schedules
  • Muck out stables and maintain clean, comfortable bedding
  • Monitor horses for signs of injury, illness, or behavioural changes
  • Clean, prepare, and maintain tack and equipment
  • Ensure all equipment is safe, fit for use, and well‑maintained
  • Assist with tack changes and lesson preparation
  • Support riders with mounting and dismounting
  • Lead horses during beginner lessons
  • Assist instructors during group sessions, pony rides, and guest activities
  • Sweep, tidy, and maintain all communal yard areas
  • Keep feed rooms and tack rooms clean and organised
  • Report maintenance issues promptly and appropriately
  • Welcome riders, guests, and parents with a warm, friendly approach
  • Answer general queries about the yard, lessons, and facilities
  • Provide a helpful, proactive presence to ensure a smooth operation each day

Requirements:

  • Previous horse-handling or yard experience preferred (training provided for the right candidate)
  • Reliable, punctual, and confident working independently
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Friendly, patient, and approachable with strong communication skills
  • A genuine love for horses and guest interaction
  • Ability to work full-time, including weekends and peak seasonal periods
