He or she is responsible for the ‘first impression’ look of the patient unit or area where working each day. This includes high dusting, spot mopping corridors, cleaning baseboards and hand rails, keeping all stainless-steel shining, and reporting items that need further attention (such as floor maintenance or Facilities Management) to an Environmental Services Supervisor. Additionally, employees that work on an assigned clinical area will be familiar with the Satisquest ratings for not only that particular patient unit, but those for the entire department as well.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for the ‘first impression’ look of the patient unit or area where working each day
Responsible for daily patient room cleaning on the unit or in the area where assigned each day
Responsible for cleaning patient rooms where the patient has been dismissed in a timely manner
Responsible for responding to dirty beds (if working in a clinical area) in as timely a manner as possible and utilizing the Bed Tracking software
Responsible for replenishing supplies throughout the patient unit or public area on an as-needed basis but using discretion
Expected to accomplish his or her ‘morning work’ when starting his or her shift
Expected to use prescribed safety methods when cleaning any isolation rooms
Expected to attend daily shift meetings, bi-monthly supervisory meetings, and monthly department meetings
Expected to report unsafe conditions to his or her Supervisor
Expected to practice outstanding customer service when interacting with any patient, visitor or staff member
May be required to move to parts of the hospital where he or she is not normally located based on the judgment of the Supervisor
Requirements:
No education required
No experience required
Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity
Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio
Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics
Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds
Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly
Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds
Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors
Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self-directed to complete jobs as ordered
Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations
Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously
Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously
Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner
If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must pass the cardiac recovery test
