Job Responsibility

  • As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting
  • Use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility
  • Learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects
  • Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens
  • Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas
  • Perform duties while demonstrating knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles
  • Display safe chemical use and equipment handling
  • Adhere to organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment
  • Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal area
  • Follow infection prevention practices
  • Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
  • Practice critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate personal accountability
  • Identify and use appropriate resources to resolve problems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements
  • Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment
  • Perform tasks according to facility needs
  • Mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees
  • Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team
