Job Description

Environmental Services Technician II position at Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center. Responsibilities include floor and carpet care, waste disposal, equipment operation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment. The role involves rotating weekends and holiday schedules.

Job Responsibility

  • Scrub, strips, polishes and refinishes floors using appropriate equipment and/or supplies
  • Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, i.e. ringers, vacuum, electric floor machines, sweepers, etc
  • Clean or sanitize after emergency spill as requested
  • Analyzes floor or carpet conditions and determines proper cleaning techniques, following department processes
  • Maintains hard surface floors and carpets following department process
  • Exhibits timely and satisfactory completion of all job assignments
  • Exercises initiative by seeking additional tasks from group leader or other associates when time permits
  • Uses and maintains equipment, keeping clean and in good repair
  • Keeps work area in orderly, clean and safe condition
  • Removal and disposal of rubbish from selected areas, following safety guidelines
  • Separates regular and recycle trash according to procedure
  • Operates waste compactors safety and efficiently
  • Clean and/or sanitizes all garbage/waste disposal containers
  • Collects hazardous and medical waste according to hospital processes/DOT/RSPA training provided hazardous and pharmaceutical
  • Replaces and transports sharps containers to waste staging area

  • Utilized AIDET with both Internal Customer and External Customers, meeting system goal
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with fellow associates

  • Displays patient and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel

  • Plans for special days off in advance and submits written requests for time off to department management for approval per departmental guidelines

  • Provide adequate notice to department management absences, and in accordance to departmental policy calls two hours prior to the beginning of shift

Requirements
