As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens. To be successful in this role, you are thorough and committed to safety. You truly are the most important component contributing to the safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and staff. Job Responsibility
Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting
Use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility
Adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials
Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies
Deliver clean linens
Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas
Perform duties demonstrating knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles
Display safe chemical use and equipment handling
Adhere to organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines
Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives
Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment
Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal area
Follow infection prevention practices
Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
Practice critical thinking skills
Demonstrate personal accountability
Identify and utilize appropriate resources to resolve problems
Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements
Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment
Perform tasks according to facility needs including conference room set ups, cleaning stairwells and elevators, and hanging cubicle curtains
Mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees
Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team
