Performs all duties of an Environmental Services Associate I & II and a variety of moderately complex tasks related to floor care maintenance/ projects and terminal cleaning procedures of patient and surgical rooms. Uses appropriate soaps, disinfectants, finishing products and equipment to clean, polish, and maintain carpeted, tiled or other floors throughout the hospital. May clean other surfaces including but not limited to walls, doors, windows, countertops, work surfaces, or bath facilities as needed to maintain a sanitary, healthful environment for patients, visitors and staff. Moves furniture and fixtures as needed. Performs sterile area cleaning in conjunction with hospital policies and AORN guidelines, while wearing appropriate PPE. Cleaning of sterile environment requires attention to detail and contact with bodily fluids.

Buffs and polishes floors
operates mechanical floor cleaners, operates carpet extractors, polishers and vacuums
Strips and re-finishes hard surfaces utilizing appropriate floor care equipment as needed
Identifies appropriate cleaning methods for specific environment
Identifies appropriate cleaning product
follows manufacturer directions and/or established hospital procedures for application of cleaning product
Collects waste materials and deposits in allocated place for pickup and disposal
handles discarded hazardous materials safely and appropriately
Identifies and matches paper and soap products for appropriate dispensers and fills as required
Cleans and assists with basic daily maintenance of equipment
uses proper body techniques to move furniture or other items as needed
Follows procedures for scheduled removal or as needed maintenance and replacement of draperies and curtains
Dusts furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust mops floors
Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms and restrooms
Wet mops rooms, walls stairways and public areas
Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specified bags or containers
Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff

Performs related duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
One (1) year of TMCH housekeeping experience or three (3) years related experience
Knowledge of best practices used on cleaning floors and general cleaning
Knowledge of cleaning products and how to use them properly
Ability to perform all type of floor care maintenance and project work (stripping, re-finishing, carpet extraction, burnishing, etc.)
Ability to perform detailed cleaning in a sterile environment, following all AORN guidelines
Skill in following directions and organizing work
If patient facing, must have the ability to read or listen and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in the English language
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to read a clock and accurately document time
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to perform basic computer tasks (e.g. log in and out, check e-mail, etc)
