Job Description:

Cleans walls, lights, fixtures and furniture in all assigned areas of the Hospital to maintain an aseptic environment and prevent nosocomial infection through using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts and maintains floors, carpeting and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the Hospital.

Job Responsibility:

  • Cleans walls, lights, fixtures and furniture in all assigned areas of the Hospital to maintain an aseptic environment and prevent nosocomial infection through using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals
  • Cleans, waxes, extracts and maintains floors, carpeting and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the Hospital
  • Coordinates with the nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first, checks empty rooms, attends to emergency cleaning for spills
  • Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily
  • Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning restrooms
  • Performs periodic detail cleaning
  • Dry mops and damp mops corridors
  • Maintains all carpets
  • Hangs curtains (if needed) and checks the condition of their own equipment
  • Continuously displays a 'can do' attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program
  • Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning a precaution (isolation) patient room
  • Knowledge of the mixing of the cleaning agents and the proper use of each agent

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to two (2) years of high school preferred
  • Up to three (3) month to become proficient in all aspects of the position
  • Requires ability to read and follow instructions
