Location: Oak Ridge, TN (Local candidates preferred or willing to relocate) This position is ideal for a mid-career professional with approximately 10 years of experience in groundwater remediation, soil remediation and environmental compliance who can contribute both technically and strategically to project execution and proposal development.

Job Responsibility

  • Support environmental remediation and/or environmental compliance projects across federal and commercial programs
  • Contribute to and develop technical proposal content in collaboration with Business Development teams
  • Interpret and apply environmental regulations, including federal and state requirements, to ongoing and proposed work
  • Prepare technical reports, evaluations, and supporting documentation for environmental projects
  • Support groundwater remediation activities, including site characterization, corrective actions, and long-term monitoring
  • Perform or support groundwater modeling and data analysis (preferred)
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with project planning, data interpretation, and decision-making processes
  • Ensure work meets quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related scientific discipline
  • Approximately 8–12 years of relevant experience (mid-level experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in groundwater remediation, soil remediation and environmental compliance
  • Experience supporting federal programs (DOE, DOD, or similar) preferred
  • Strong technical writing skills, including experience contributing to reports or proposals
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Familiarity with site characterization, risk assessment, and corrective action strategies
  • Experience supporting proposal development or technical business development efforts
  • Advanced degree in environmental science or related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PG, CHMM, QEP)
  • Must be able to work onsite in Oak Ridge, TN (relocation assistance may be considered)
  • Due to the nature of government contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Actively participate in environmental remediation projects, including planning, coordination, sampling, execution, safety lead duties for field activities, data analysis, and technical reporting phases
  • Conduct comprehensive field investigations utilizing standard field practices and equipment for the collection of samples, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, sediment, and potable water
  • Lead subsurface drilling programs (conventional and direct push), perform soil logging, soil and rock classification, prepare boring logs and well construction logs
  • Apply a foundation in natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, geology-hydrogeology, and mathematics) along with engineering principles to explain environmental observations and develop effective solutions to complex environmental issues and problems
  • Assist with environmental remediation system installation, operation and maintenance
