Requirements

Completion or current enrollment in a bachelor’s (junior or senior standing) or master’s degree program
Various degrees considered including transportation or civil engineering
transportation/urban planning
or a related field (e.g., geography, public policy, economics, sociology, statistics, anthropology, graphic design, data science, GIS)
Experience using Microsoft Office
PowerPoint, Word, Excel desired
Strong interest or knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principles and practices
A passion for partnering with and serving the local communities

Job Responsibility

Produce planning, environmental, and other technical work products
Analyze data and contribute to research
Work with diverse technical teams
Learn about local planning, environmental issues, and requirements
Conduct assignments in the field (i.e., visit project sites)
Participate in public outreach and collaboration
Collaborate and network with other diverse students in the cohort
Work on variety of projects which may include traffic operations simulations, bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight and goods movement planning, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, transit planning, and regional transportation plans
Analyze/solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including a community engagement setting

The program includes a collaborative 2-week charrette in July working on a project (travel and lodging will be covered, if needed, during the charrette)
