Job Description

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for ensuring operations adhere to the goals and policies of the Environmental System and other specified sustainability requirements affecting this contract.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead environmental compliance activities for airport construction and modernization projects, ensuring adherence to NEPA, FAA Orders, and federal/state/local regulations
  • Coordinate environmental assessments and impact studies, including categorical exclusions, environmental assessments (EAs), and environmental impact statements (EISs)
  • Serve as primary liaison with FAA environmental offices, airport authorities, and regulatory agencies, managing approvals and documentation
  • Develop and maintain environmental permitting roadmap, covering wetlands, stormwater, hazardous materials, and cultural resource requirements
  • Integrate environmental considerations into project planning and design, advising on siting, construction methods, and mitigation strategies
  • Track and manage environmental permits and approvals using centralized dashboards
  • proactively resolve delays or deficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with airport-specific environmental protocols, including noise abatement, wildlife hazard management, and sustainability initiatives
  • Prepare and deliver environmental documentation (reports, checklists, mitigation plans) for FAA and stakeholder review
  • Monitor changes in environmental regulations and FAA guidance, advising leadership on impacts to project delivery
  • Support site assessments and facility condition evaluations by identifying environmental risks and recommending mitigation measures
  • Report regularly to senior leadership and FAA stakeholders on environmental compliance status, risks, and mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety or similar education
  • 5-7 years' Experience in an environmental project manager or similar role
  • OSHA certifications (Preferred)
  • Candidates local to the DC, MD and VA area (Highly Preferred)
  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMSs)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and federal energy laws and policy (including energy and water reduction requirements and renewable energy requirements) that are applicable to operations similar to those of this contract
  • Hazardous Waste Management and Spill Response
  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) management
