Job Description:

At Allianz Commercial, we are the global leader for insuring corporate and specialty risks in the Allianz Group. We are seeking an Environmental Liability Risk Consultant to provide risk analysis and consulting for liability underwriters regarding complex environmental risks across various industries. This remote role requires extensive travel within the United States and Canada, and offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative projects using digital tools and AI to enhance risk management solutions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform environmental and expertise-related liability risk assessments
  • Assess Phase I/II ESA, Soil/Groundwater Monitoring, Environmental Impacts, and Remediation reports
  • Evaluate environmental liability exposures based on regulatory frameworks and guidelines
  • Provide underwriters with technical reports and qualitative risk ratings
  • Assist various AzC functions and clients with scientific and technical insights
  • Provide technical training to underwriting teams and stakeholders on specific or emerging risks
  • Generate and review required reports and recommendations
  • Carry out risk dialogues or site surveys
  • Actively support ARC Liability and EIL global team projects
  • Implement digital tools, including AI and data analytics, to enhance assessments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental management, consulting, and/or contaminated site assessments
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in relevant disciplines including engineering in environmental management, hydrogeology, environmental compliance, health and safety systems, waste management, chemical analysis, and occupational hygiene
  • Proven experience working in risk management and loss prevention processes in industrial operations or in project driven environments
  • Knowledge of environmental and/or Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 and 14001
  • Knowledge of ISO 31000 and 45001 is an asset
  • Experience in field execution and management of Phase I/II/III ESAs and remediation projects as well as in the execution or management of sediment assessments, designated substance surveys and/or air emission surveys
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Fluent in French if located in Canada
  • Demonstrable engineering/technical expertise
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to the North America (USA and Canada) businesses and projects
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Presentation skills in a varied environment
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Competent user of the Office365 environment
  • Understanding of principles of Data Analytics and keen use of AI agents
  • Commitment to maintaining knowledge of developments and new technologies in the field including AI and principles of data analytics
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks and data-driven decision-making
  • Ability to travel extensively.

  • Additional professional experience in another discipline
  • Technical training or experience in emerging risks
  • Ability to provide training and presentations to a wide audience
  • Knowledge of sediment assessments, designated substance surveys, and/or air emission surveys
  • Development and contribution to white papers or technical publications.
