Job Description

Working as Full-time Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager, you will manage companywide environmental, health, safety and sustainability related functions. You will drive continuous improvement of the company's safety and sustainability culture by providing strategy, leadership and subject matter expertise. You will be responsible for managing, developing and implementing programs and people to ensure participation of proactive practices that utilize prevention and mitigation techniques.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing leadership, development and supervision of team members
  • Coordinating employees, including scheduling, hiring and exiting
  • Establishing goals and objectives to meet stakeholder needs
  • Training and developing employees, program management
  • Communicating across departments and business units
  • Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations
  • Performing investigations, analytics, strategic planning for related topics
  • Supporting business units to ensure goals and objectives are met
  • Completing administrative reporting and related clerical duties
  • Coordinating compliance with safety standards as well as assisting with policies and procedures

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
  • Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed
  • Possess a degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Public Health, Human Resources, Engineering, Construction, Law Enforcement or a safety/medical related education OR possess at least 3 years of work experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety, law enforcement, public health or construction OR possess at least 1 year of Fastenal leadership work experience
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrate knowledge of occupational safety and general industry regulations or standards
  • Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
  • Lead and motivate a team of employees
  • Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
  • Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to travel while working a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
  • Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs
  • Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

Nice to have

  • Prior work experience or education in OSHA, EPA, safety, operations, sustainability, communications, environmental compliance, risk management, business, or a related field
  • Possess a certification or have prior industry training (i.e. OSHA 30hr, Certified Safety Professional, Qualified Environmental Professional, and Risk Management Certification, or related education)
  • Willingness to travel 40% of the time while working a flexible schedule
