The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist 1 is responsible for administering and implementing EHS programs and procedures to ensure the safety and health of employees and compliance with business operations. This position supports BD personnel in maintaining compliance with facility/corporate EHS policies, agency regulations, and best management practices, working under the direction of the EHS Supervisor.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in managing and administering site safety and environmental programs, including Chemical Hygiene, Biological Safety, and Fire Safety
Investigate accidents and work-related injuries, maintain OSHA logs, and manage Workers’ Compensation cases
Manage the site's Ergonomics Program and coordinate follow-up activities
Provide EHS training, maintain training databases, and generate reports
Review and update safety and environmental programs, including SOPs and Work Instructions
Conduct laboratory evaluations, write reports, and report to the EHS Supervisor
Oversee monthly testing of safety equipment and quarterly site inspections
Ensure correct posting of warning signs and compliance with regulatory requirements
Update and maintain EHS databases, track metrics, and prepare monthly reports
Requirements:
Experience in supporting EHS programs and maintaining compliance with EHS policies and regulations
Experience in maintaining OSHA 300 Logs and Workers’ Compensation case management
Effective communication and coordination skills
Ability to conduct and evaluate laboratory inspections
Proficiency in maintaining and updating EHS databases
Ability to follow established procedures and support the EHS Supervisor
Basic knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements
Skill in providing limited EHS training and maintaining training databases
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Relevant experience in supporting EHS programs and compliance
Basic knowledge and application of EHS policies and procedures
Ability to work under general supervision and perform routine tasks with instruction
Willingness to learn and add new skills as required to accomplish assigned tasks
