An established and growing industrial manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of the EHS agenda across its UK operations. This is a stand-alone leadership role with the opportunity to shape safety culture, strengthen environmental practices and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites. The organisation supplies to a wide range of industries and operates several facilities across the UK. With strong foundations already in place, they are now investing in developing a more structured and proactive EHS function.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the lead responsible person for Health & Safety across the organisation
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
Lead incident investigations, near miss reporting and corrective actions
Maintain accurate accident and incident records and report to relevant authorities where required
Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and internal audits across sites
Chair health and safety committee meetings and promote a positive safety culture
Ensure contractors and suppliers meet required safety standards
Support the management and continuous improvement of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
Maintain environmental policies, registers, and compliance documentation
Lead environmental reporting requirements
Manage waste compliance and environmental documentation requests from customers and suppliers
Deliver health and safety inductions and training programmes
Maintain training records and employee skills matrices
Support the development of structured training and onboarding processes
Work with HR on occupational health requirements and compliance
Requirements:
Proven experience in an EHS / HSE management role
Background in manufacturing, engineering, heavy industry, distribution, or factory environments
Experience working with ISO 14001 and knowledge of ISO 45001 frameworks
Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation
Experience with risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and compliance reporting
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong IT skills with the ability to analyse and present data
Nice to have:
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
Internal auditor training
Experience supporting environmental or sustainability initiatives
