Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Practitioner to play a key role in protecting public health and supporting safer, healthier communities. You will help secure compliance with statutory requirements through inspection, investigation, auditing, monitoring and, where necessary, enforcement across areas such as food safety and standards, health and safety, public health, and licensing. Your work will directly contribute to achieving Council and service objectives, improving the local environment, and supporting community wellbeing and economic prosperity.

Job Responsibility:

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified Environmental Health Practitioner
  • Hold a Higher Certificate in Food Control (HCFC) or Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection (HCFP), or an equivalent qualification recognised within the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Demonstrate ongoing maintenance of professional competency in line with relevant bodies
  • Strong technical knowledge, including a solid understanding of environmental health legislation, enforcement tools and their practical application within a local authority
  • In depth working knowledge of risk assessments, quality systems and at least one specialised area of environmental health, supported by sound scientific and technical understanding
  • Confident communicating complex legislation clearly to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent numeracy, literacy and organisational skills
  • Able to lead, coordinate and work collaboratively, ensuring high professional standards and effective service delivery
