Job Description

The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving environmental compliance and operational programs at our division in Eugene, Oregon.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead site environmental programs, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company requirements
  • Interpret permits and regulations and translate requirements into practical, executable site actions
  • Maintain and manage air, water, and hazardous materials permits, including data collection, analysis, and regulatory reporting
  • Effectively collaborate and maintain relationships with regulatory inspections and agency interactions
  • Identify compliance risks, develop corrective actions, and drive implementation to closure
  • Conduct audits of site programs and processes to verify compliance and effectiveness
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, sampling, and recordkeeping systems
  • Support development and execution of environmental improvement and remedial action projects
  • Ensure required environmental training is scheduled, conducted, and documented
  • Maintain emergency response readiness and support incident response activities as needed
  • Supervise crews or contractors supporting environmental or compliance-related work
  • Collaborate with Environmental Coordinators across other divisions to maintain consistency and share best practices
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program and related hazard communication requirements
  • Flexibility in work schedule to effectively interact with multiple mills, crews and shifts, with availability to respond to emergencies 24/7

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, significantly related technical field, or equivalent progressive experience
  • 4 years of relevant environmental, industrial, or technical experience
  • Working knowledge of air and/or water permitting and compliance programs preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage responsibilities, analyze problems, and implement solutions
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills in operational environments
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technical requirements clearly and concisely
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Mechanical or industrial operations understanding sufficient to evaluate environmental impacts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • ability to learn site-specific reporting systems

  • U.S. Citizenship required. Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines such as facilities or maintenance preferred, and six (6) years of related experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Current U.S. Driver’s License (Real ID required)

  • Serve as the principal contact for all facility related matters, safety and environmental concerns including chemical tracking
  • Communicate and coordinate all required work with all interested parties to avoid unacceptable disruptions in the Government's operations
  • Perform daily walk-throughs and various inspections to ensure the facility and its equipment are functioning properly
  • Maintain library of, and draft new as appropriate, alarm response procedures for facility equipment
  • Provide an initial assessment of issues in the facility using working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints and working drawings and serve as an approval source for changes made to these drawings
  • Maintains the electrical Lockout/Tag out procedures, log, and tags for the facility as well as other facility documentation known as a Facility Resume
  • Serve as the principal contact for all facility safety related matters and ensuring the safety of any facility operations
  • Oversee the safe conduct of maintenance activities, facility specific safety procedures, inspections, periodic and annual safety training, and compliance with applicable customer safety requirements
