Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Engineer to join our R&D organization. The team is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and supporting the implementation of a sustainable business model across our product portfolio. You will play a key role in strengthening environmental performance, reducing impact, and embedding a sustainability mindset within engineering.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor, assess, and interpret environmental legislation (e.g., REACH, WFD, ESPR, EUBR, CSRD E2–E5)
  • Ensure compliance with environmental requirements across the organization
  • Support internal stakeholders with compliance-related questions across entities
  • Guide R&D in applying eco-design and product sustainability principles
  • Develop and maintain processes to improve environmental product performance
  • Represent R&D in internal and external forums, including Toyota group initiatives
  • Act as a technical advisor on environmental regulations and standards
  • Participate in industry associations and standardization bodies
  • Measure, analyze, and report environmental performance data

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of environmental laws, directives, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with environmental data analysis, reporting, and communication
  • Knowledge of Design for Environment (DfE), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and relevant standards
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with high integrity
  • Proactive, curious, and motivated to drive sustainable improvements
  • Experience in a similar role is required
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written is required, proficiency in Swedish is strongly preferred
