Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience of working in a manufacturing environment in a similar capacity is acceptable.
Knowledge of and/or ability to research Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations and their applications to facilities.
Experience in evaluating regulatory standards and writing policies or procedures specific to the sites.
25% overnight travel to 19 sites.

Job Responsibility

Coordinate environmental compliance activities within the assigned business units.
Collaborate with leadership teams at multiple sites to enhance environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management systems.
Coordinate and maintain environmental compliance activities across assigned sites.
Assure compliance with site regulatory environmental permits (record keeping, reporting, permitting and renewal) by providing direction needed to support regulatory compliance.
Inspect processes to detect existing or potential environmental hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented.

Job Responsibility

Coordinate aspects of sustainability: pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy as it pertains to environmental compliance
Perform auditing, analyzing and reporting environmental safety performances for Advocate Health facilities to Senior Leadership and regulatory agencies
Perform impact assessments to identify and reduce the organization’s risks and financial costs
Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental safety issues, whether legislative or best practice
Assist with training of Atrium Health staff at all levels in environmental safety issues and responsibilities
Responsible for environmental safety reporting
Assist with identifying and developing environmental safety metrics that will indicate the effectiveness of the program
Direct/Consult with Advocate Facilities in regard to Environmental Safety
