Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Lead to join our HSEQ team, supporting Safetykleen branches across the UK and Ireland as a trusted expert in hazardous waste compliance, environmental regulation, and operational best practice. Working cross-functionally with operations, fleet, commercial teams, and senior leadership. This is a high-impact, business-critical role where you will own and influence end-to-end strategic planning and operational delivery across hazardous waste activities. You will ensure robust forecasting, legislative compliance across UK, Ireland, and relevant EU regulations, and drive continuous improvement across diverse hazardous waste streams.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead hazardous waste compliance and environmental strategy across UK & Ireland operations
  • Ensure compliance with UK, Irish, and relevant EU environmental legislation
  • Manage waste permits, regulatory relationships, and compliance audits
  • Maintain and improve ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 environmental management systems
  • Oversee waste classification, disposal routes, and treatment partnerships
  • Analyse performance data and drive cost and sustainability improvements
  • Support environmental incident response and risk management
  • Deliver executive reporting and compliance insight

Requirements

  • Experienced environmental or hazardous waste professional
  • Strong understanding of waste legislation, classification requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Comfortable working with data and complex regulations
  • Can assess risk, prioritise effectively, and drive practical operational improvements
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and regulators
  • Communicate confidently at all levels
  • Remain calm and solutions-focused
  • CIWM, WAMITAB, or similar qualification is desirable
  • Full UK driving licence is required
