Well-established boutique law firm in Illinois is seeking an environmental attorney to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal detail oriented who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment and values innovation in addressing complex environmental issues

Job Responsibility:

  • Represent clients in a wide range of environmental law matters, including regulatory compliance, natural resource management, land use and zoning, and environmental litigation
  • Provide counsel to businesses, government entities, and individuals regarding federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents related to environmental concerns
  • Assist clients in obtaining permits and navigating regulations related to land redevelopment, hazardous waste management, and emissions compliance
  • Handle environmental due diligence for real estate transactions and corporate mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings and litigation before courts and regulatory agencies
  • Stay current with new and evolving regulations, laws, and industry trends to provide proactive advice and solutions to clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients through effective communication and exceptional legal service

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Illinois
  • 5-7 years of experience practicing environmental law, with a strong background in regulatory compliance, transactional work, and/or litigation
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and Illinois-specific environmental statutes, policies, and programs
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with efficiency and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and team members
