Job Description:

We are looking for an Environmental and Social Lead for one of our clients with the following details: Start Date: ASAP Direct Hire: full time - 18 months Location: Sierra Leone (West Africa) Qualification and Experience required: Experience in Sierra Leone Experience in West Africa on projects of similar size and complexity Experience using the IFC Performance Standards Experience in energy transmission lines in greenfield setting Environmental and Social lead: To be based in Sierra Leone. A master's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, environmental management or related master-level fields or more. A minimum of 10 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in conducting environmental and social impact studies/environmental analyses, and in coordinating and/or providing oversight of environmental and social risk mitigation and protection program implementation. Extensive knowledge of international best practices in risk and impact identification, management, avoidance and mitigations (such as the ISO environmental standards, Equatorial Principles, and/or IFC Performance Standards). Experience in the energy sector and at least on two similar projects over the past five years of similar nature and complexity to this assignment. Knowledge and experience in environmental risks analysis including development and/or application of ESMS (in line with IFC Performance Standards 1) including risk response and monitoring plans, ESIAs and ESMPs. Knowledge and experience in social risks analysis including Trafficking in Persons in general and labour exploitation (in line with IFC Performance Standards 2) including risk response and monitoring plans. Experience working closely and collaboratively with local counterparts and with a diverse set of stakeholders. Experience working in low-income developing countries.
