This position will assist our statewide ecologist and water resource specialist staff address rapidly evolving environmental policy issues, including endangered species, pollinators, wetlands, and waterways. The position will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Environmental Services Section team with a variety of tasks to help our team address rapidly evolving environmental issues.
Job Responsibility:
Assisting and supporting the Environmental Services Section team with a variety of tasks to help our team address rapidly evolving environmental issues, such as endangered species compliance, pollinator conservation, native habitat restoration, wetland and stream mitigation, and stormwater quality
Reviewing and summarizing technical papers and reports
Reviewing and summarizing new or proposed environmental regulations, policies and guidance documents
Assisting with GIS projects and analyses
Assisting with contract management
Reviewing proposed infrastructure projects for environmental concerns
Supporting records management and tracking efforts
Requirements:
Educational background in natural resources, such as environmental science, ecology, biology, earth science, water resources, or similar field
Education and experience using GIS programs and tools
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to synthesize, summarize and translate technical information and data, and communicate this information to diverse audiences
Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and awareness of transportation and environmental policy issues
Ability to work on a multidisciplinary team
Problem solving skills and techniques
Motivated, accountable, and able to meet deadlines
