Our client Scottish Power are currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor (GIS) to join their team based in Cambuslang on a contract basis initially. In this role of Environmental Advisor (GIS), you will support our environmental operations through geospatial data analysis, mapping, and technical assistance. The successful candidate will work in our environmental team to analyse site conditions, monitor environmental parameters, and create detailed maps and visualisations that support our practices.
Job Responsibility:
Support environmental operations through geospatial data analysis, mapping, and technical assistance
Comply with internal Environmental Management System to preserve ISO 14001 accreditation
Provide support and advice to project team prior and throughout construction period to achieve compliance with statutory environmental requirements
Sustain and improve Environmental Procedures to identify and respond to emerging environmental legislation
Provide proactive specialist guidance regarding environmental controls, constraints and legislation
Develop and implement new methods to improve environmental performance
Develop an Environmental Management Plan for the project
Liaise directly with regulators/stakeholders
Manage environmental monitoring and inspection programs
Support investigation and reporting of environmental incidents
Develop and deliver environmental training initiatives
Review Contractors’ environmental documentation
Collect, process, and maintain geospatial data
Create and update GIS databases
Generate regular reports on environmental parameters
Maintain detailed documentation of GIS workflows and data sources
Ensure all geospatial products meet industry standards
Assist with project development and environmental baseline assessments
Support compliance reporting through spatial analysis and mapping
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Marine Science, or related field
2-5 years of professional GIS experience OR 3+ years’ experience in on site Environmental Role within an engineering or construction related environment
Proficiency in QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online
Knowledge and experience of spatial databases and data formats (shapefiles, geodatabases, rasters)
Familiarity with GPS equipment and data collection methods
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail and data quality control
Computer literacy & working knowledge of Microsoft Packages
Degree in an environmental discipline
In-depth knowledge of current and developing environmental legislation
Good understanding of ecological and hydrological aspects on construction sites
CSCS card or Safety Passport
Current valid driving licence
