Job Description

Wētā FX is seeking expressions of interest for experienced Environment Modellers based in our Melbourne, Australia Hub. As an Environment Modeller at Wētā FX you will be responsible for the creation of digital environment assets across all shows.

Job Responsibility

  • Creation of digital environment assets across all shows
  • Create accurate and realistic models from 2d reference, previs, photogrammetry and scan data
  • Handing off models that meet the technical requirements for other departments such as FX, Shaders, DMP and Layout

Requirements

  • Have an impressive reel showing a wide range of organic / environment models with clean and efficient topology
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience using Maya in a production environment
  • Have experience managing the complexity of large Environment builds and effective use of asset instancing
  • Have experience with Mudbox, Blender or Z-Brush
  • Have experience with photogrammetry processing, remeshing and map extraction
  • Understand Linux desktop and system commands in order to perform daily tasks comfortably
  • Be comfortable taking direction and working independently while being an effective team player
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Be a clear and confident communicator

Nice to have

  • Experience with procedural modelling techniques such as Houdini, Gaea or World Machine
  • The ability to script in MEL and/or Python
