Job Description:

Domtar is seeking an Entry Level Operator for its Johnsonburg Mill, which manufactures uncoated freesheet paper. The role offers career progression to grow skills in pulp and paper-making manufacturing technologies while increasing earnings.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate state-of-the-art equipment and systems
  • Work in a heavy manufacturing environment operating 24/7
  • Perform lock out / tag out procedures
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and policies

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years full time work experience or post-secondary education
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (7 days and 7 nights per month including holidays and weekends)
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work behaviors
  • Must have mechanical aptitude, basic computer and math skills, decision-making and communication skills
  • Must be able to be flexible and work in a team environment
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment (hard hat, ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses)
  • Must be able to climb ladders and high stairways/catwalks
  • Must be able to walk and stand in an industrial setting for long periods of time
  • Must have physical endurance and ability to work in a hot and humid environment
  • Must be willing and able to qualify to safely operate forklifts, lift trucks, and other motorized equipment
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
  • Must successfully complete a selection process (interviews, background check, drug/alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests, fitness-for-duty test)
