This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. Boeing-Wichita is seeking Entry-level Manufacturing Engineers to join their team in Wichita, KS.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply teams to develop and guide the program manufacturing and tooling plan
  • Ensures the identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and improves manufacturing processes in support of the type design
  • Uses process engineering principles and techniques
  • Develops, establishes, and guides requirements for assembly, tooling simulations, and manufacturing configurations
  • Performs trade and cost studies and assists in leading integrated product and process teams
  • Ability to apply knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Composite non-metallic, Electrical/Electronics, Machining, Sheet metal, Systems and Structures

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited course of study in engineering or related discipline or will obtain one by June 30th, 2026

  • Produce parts or assemblies using Conventional or Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) mediums, while simultaneously ensuring product and/or process quality at all levels of the manufacturing operation through monitoring/verification methodologies.
  • Concurrently perform related functions to provide complete hardware in accordance with engineering specifications including (e.g., operating multiple machines simultaneously, deburr part surface, milling, drilling, boring, honing, grinding, fastening).
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard lightbulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
  • Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area, including across isle, using shop assigned equipment as required, and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation. On an exception basis, moves product to the next operation within a building.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training and assisting employees of the same or lower classification level.
  • Cross trains in inspection and becomes SIA qualified.
  • Completely and independently setup and operate Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) and Conventional equipment to perform complex or precision operations in accordance with engineering requirements.
