The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking experienced Entry-Level Fabrication Specialist in areas such as GFM (Ply cutter), automated fiber placement, autoclave, composite hand lay-up, and paint working in the Composite Center of Excellence (CCOE) located in Mesa, AZ. This position will require strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively work with the build team to support various programs. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Develops lay-up and assembly set-ups and techniques for the fabrication of composite structural and assemblies
Sets up and troubleshoots composite parts for assembly or layup
Assembles, lays up, inspects, repairs, trims, and other processes the fabrication of parts and components
Identify nonconforming detail parts, assemblies and processes
Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes
Fabricate composite detail parts using various pre-prep composite materials and/or wet layup processes
Locate station lines, index points, and E.O.P lines to establish exact locations of ply installations and components
Assemble and install detail composite components by bonding, sealing, cementing, and forming to engineering specifications
Set up, weigh, mix and apply composite adhesives per engineering and company specifications
Prep and apply required release agents to composite prototype and or production tooling per company specifications
Working knowledge of composite material bonding best practices, FOD control and prevention
Requirements:
Must have High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
1 or more years of experience in Composites
Must have experience interpreting and working from blueprints, sketches, and written and verbal instructions in English
Must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
Must be able to work any shift
Nice to have:
Experience with Composite Inspection & Repair
Experience with Composite Trimming
Knowledge of organic chemical processes (such as top-coating, priming, surface cleaning, painting)
Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
