The entry level Accountant is an entry‑level, full‑time position responsible for supporting the accounting department with daily financial operations. This role is designed for entry level with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. The entry level Accountant will work closely with senior accounting staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, job costing, and compliance with company policies and construction‑industry standards.
Job Responsibility:
Process vendor invoices, verify purchase orders, match packing slips, and ensure timely payments
Prepare customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances
Assist with tracking project expenses, labor hours, subcontractor costs, and materials
Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support month-end close
Assist with weekly payroll review, timecard verification, and union/non-union labor reporting
Prepare basic financial summaries, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation
Maintain accurate records for audits, insurance, bonding, and regulatory requirements
Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data entry
Ability to learn construction-specific software
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and time-management abilities
Nice to have:
Internship or part-time experience in accounting
Familiarity with construction accounting, AIA billing, or certified payroll
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, or Procore
