Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced backup engineering specialist to provide advanced administration, optimisation, and operational support for enterprise-scale backup infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, reliability, and compliance of data protection services across virtual and physical environments, with a strong emphasis on Veeam Backup & Replication. The individual will play a key role in maintaining resilient backup operations, supporting restore and disaster recovery activities, and resolving complex technical escalations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Install, configure, and administer Veeam Backup & Replication in large enterprise environments
  • Manage backup and replication jobs, retention policies, and validation activities
  • Execute full, incremental, and synthetic full backups, including VM-level and granular restores
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures, performance issues, repository constraints, and proxy load challenges
  • Optimise backup repositories, proxies, and storage integrations to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Perform daily monitoring, log reviews, health checks, and incident resolution activities
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational documentation
  • Provide L2/L3 support for backup and restore-related escalations
  • Support disaster recovery activities, replication failovers, and periodic DR testing
  • Provide basic monitoring and restore support for NetBackup environments

Requirements:

  • 8–10 years of overall experience
  • at least 5 years of hands-on expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Strongly skilled in VMware virtualisation environments and backup architecture design
  • Confident in troubleshooting complex backup and restore workflows in enterprise settings
  • Experienced in performance tuning across backup proxies, repositories, and storage platforms
  • Knowledgeable in retention strategies, data protection compliance, and disaster recovery readiness
  • Comfortable working with networking fundamentals relevant to backup infrastructure
  • Familiar with NetBackup monitoring and restore activities (beneficial)
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripting is advantageous
