Piper Companies is seeking an Enterprise Architect to join a rapidly growing, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business supporting both federal and commercial clients in a fully remote (15-25% Travel) role. This is a highly strategic, client-facing technical leadership role focused on designing secure, scalable enterprise network architectures and driving the adoption of modern automation and orchestration frameworks across hybrid environments.
Job Responsibility:
Engage with clients to understand business requirements, challenges, and objectives, translating them into tailored enterprise network architecture solutions
Assess existing infrastructures to identify opportunities for optimization, focusing on scalability, resiliency, performance, and security
Design, document, and present end-to-end network architectures across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
Lead implementation efforts, guiding engineering teams and ensuring deployments align with architectural standards and best practices
Drive adoption of network automation, infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC), and orchestration frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python-based automation
Develop and maintain automated configuration management and CI/CD pipelines for network infrastructure deployments
Standardize architectures and create reusable templates to streamline deployments and improve consistency across client environments
Collaborate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and technology partners to deliver integrated solutions aligned with client business outcomes
Provide mentorship, technical leadership, and training to engineering and client teams on automation tools and emerging technologies
Research and evaluate emerging technologies including SDN, SASE, Zero Trust, NFV, and cloud‑native networking
Serve as a trusted advisor during technical discussions and architecture reviews, ensuring compliance with security, scalability, and performance requirements
Troubleshoot complex network and automation-related issues, driving root cause analysis and long-term remediation
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
7+ years of experience in network architecture, network engineering, or related technical disciplines
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade network infrastructures across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, VPNs, and SD‑WAN
Expertise in network security design including firewalls, segmentation, and access control
Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, NetBox, Nornir, and REST APIs
Experience integrating automation into provisioning and change management workflows (CI/CD)
Familiarity with cloud networking services across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
Exposure to SDN, SASE, Zero Trust, and microsegmentation principles
Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
IAT Level II or higher required
Nice to have:
Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code and DevOps methodologies
Familiarity with monitoring and telemetry platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Cisco ThousandEyes
Understanding of containerized networking (Docker, Kubernetes, CNI plugins)
Ability to lead architecture discussions and influence technology strategy
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills
