The Enterprise Architect will lead architectural design for on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments, translating business requirements into scalable infrastructure architectures. The role requires a minimum of 15 years of experience in IT infrastructure and enterprise architecture, with a strong focus on cloud solutions. Preferred qualifications include relevant certifications and experience in DevSecOps practices. The position is based in Rockville, MD, and candidates must live within 60 miles of the client site.
Job Responsibility:
Lead architecture and technical design for enterprise and platform hosting environments across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud infrastructures
Define and guide hosting solutions across core infrastructure domains, including compute, virtualization, application and database hosting, storage, networking, and cloud platforms
Design and evolve secure, scalable cloud architectures and hybrid connectivity models that support enterprise workloads and operational requirements
Support migration and modernization initiatives, including transitions from on-premise to cloud environments and adoption of modern hosting architectures
Establish and govern infrastructure automation and DevSecOps practices to support consistent, repeatable, and secure platform deployments
Provide architectural guidance for containerized and platform-based hosting solutions supporting modern application delivery
Support integration of specialized compute environments used in research and data-intensive workloads, as applicable
Develop and maintain architectural standards, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps to ensure consistency, security, and lifecycle alignment across hosting services
Collaborate with program management, service delivery leads, and engineering teams to translate architectural designs into implementable, operational solutions
Advise leadership on architectural tradeoffs, technical risk, capacity considerations, and modernization priorities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, or four (4) years of work experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or enterprise architecture roles supporting US Federal Government clients
Minimum 5 years of experience architecting enterprise-scale infrastructure and hosting solutions in medium to large environments
Minimum 3 years of experience designing and supporting cloud and hybrid architectures, including migration and modernization of on-premise environments
Ability to obtain a Public Trust
Must live within 60 miles of the client site in Rockville, MD
Nice to have:
Experience establishing and governing DevSecOps and infrastructure automation practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code approaches
Working knowledge of software development lifecycle principles and their integration with infrastructure and platform services
Experience with container-based platforms and modern application hosting architectures
Familiarity with specialized or data-intensive computing environments, such as research or high-performance computing platforms, as applicable
Relevant professional certifications may include, but are not limited to: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional), ITIL 4 Managing Professional, PMP, Certified Scrum Master, Red Hat Certified Engineer, VMware VCDX-DCV, Cisco CCNP
