An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant ENT Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Otology/Paediatric ENT to join a forward-thinking, collaborative department in Greater London. This role has been developed to support service expansion and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality elective ENT care. There is a strong scope to develop subspecialty interests, particularly in paediatric otology, hearing-loss management, and long-term auditory care pathways. The department has a strong reputation for innovation, multidisciplinary working, and service development, including digital pathways and community integration.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive ENT care across paediatric and general ENT services
Deliver outpatient clinics (face-to-face and virtual)
Undertake elective and day-case surgical procedures
Manage paediatric otology conditions, including hearing loss, cholesteatoma, and long-term hearing support
Participate in regular theatre sessions (2 sessions per week)
Opportunity for additional operating through waiting list initiatives
Participate in consultant-led on-call rota (approx. 1:5)
Provide emergency ENT care when required
Support post-operative care, particularly paediatric ENT cases
Supervise and support junior doctors, specialty trainees, and allied health professionals
Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Participate in audit, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
Support rota management and departmental development
Contribute to paediatric ENT and otology service expansion
Contribute to community and primary care integration
Contribute to digital and virtual care pathways
Engage with GP advice and guidance services
Requirements:
FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent
GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
On the Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Subspecialty training in Paediatric ENT / Otology
Broad experience in general ENT practice
Experience in teaching and training
Nice to have:
Post-CCT fellowship in Otology / Paediatric ENT
Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc or equivalent)
Experience in service development or pathway redesign
Research publications or presentations
Teaching qualification or "Train the Trainer" certification
