General Description: This position provides assistance to Family Stability Program case manager(s) through community outreach to meet new participants, data input to measure grant goals, and fulfilling referrals for services by meeting potential participants onsite in public schools. The Family Stability Program is housed within the Community Partnership School™ (CPS) program. The Family Stability Program provides coaching, resource referrals, and financial education to local parents and students, particularly those with low income and homelessness related conditions.
Job Responsibility
Point of contact for Family Stability Program participants through the outreach and application stages
Perform informational interviews with potential clients to determine eligibility
Input correspondence, case notes, narratives, notifications, and related documents into computer database
Address participant needs by facilitating referral to appropriate treatment or service providers
Conduct activities in a culturally responsive manner and monitor the service environment to maximize participant success and well-being
Advocates on behalf of clients and families for services, basic needs, and other related issues
Attends community events to represent United Way Broward and the Family Stability Program
Stays abreast of community resources and procedures for referring clients to appropriate resources
Conducts community and home visits (if needed) related to fulfilling resource referrals
Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Associate’s degree with major course work in social work, psychology or other closely related field, preferred. High school diploma and two (2) years related work experience can be substituted for higher degree.
Experience in data entry, customer services, hospitality, community resource referral, or closely related work
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience
Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude and handling sensitive and confidential information with maximum discretion
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong desire to help others in need. Must be self-motivated, compassionate, have a positive attitude and determined to advocate for the rights and needs and vulnerable people in our community
Must have and maintain reliable transportation
Direct experience working with low income, homeless population, youth and families strongly preferred
