Job Description:

Join a Team as an English Teacher in an SEN School in Caterham! The school is part of a reputable academy group and collaborates closely with a local sister school. While they share leadership, each site has its own Assistant Head, teachers, and TAs, ensuring focused support. Staff and students benefit from an on-site therapy team and strong inter-site collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver and develop a curriculum that meets the educational, physical, and social needs of students
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Create and implement lesson plans that cater to short, medium, and long-term educational goals
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets
  • Assess, review, and communicate student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, and relevant bodies
  • Participate in the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews
  • Structure lessons to ensure pace, motivation, and challenge
  • Stay updated on autism-related issues to plan effective teaching strategies
  • Address individual student needs with a non-confrontational approach

Requirements:

  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Ability to teach English up to GCSE level
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profiles
  • Strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience in managing a range of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours
