Job Description:

A well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Failsworth is seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join its dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who thrives in a supportive, specialist environment and is committed to helping young people re-engage with learning. This PRU provides tailored education for pupils who require smaller class sizes, personalised support, and a trauma-informed approach. Staff work closely together to create a safe, structured and nurturing atmosphere where every pupil can grow academically, emotionally and socially.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach small groups of learners with varied needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Create a calm, structured and motivating learning environment
  • Use behaviour-supportive strategies and restorative practices
  • Work collaboratively with a supportive multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to curriculum development and pupil progress planning

Requirements:

  • QTS or QTLS (experienced or confident ECTs considered)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English
  • Experience in PRU, alternative provision, SEMH, or similar settings (desirable but not essential)
  • A calm, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Ability to adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and positive transformation
