We are seeking a dynamic and intellectually driven English Teacher for a full-time, long-term temporary position at our partner secondary school in Battersea. Starting as soon as possible or in September, this role offers the stability of a full-time schedule within a supportive and forward-thinking department.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, exploring a diverse range of texts including Shakespeare, 19th-century fiction, and modern poetry
Lead Year 11 cohorts through the complexities of English Language and Literature exam specifications, utilizing precise data tracking to provide targeted interventions
Foster a classroom environment where students deconstruct layers of meaning, evaluate writer's craft, and formulate sophisticated evidence-based arguments
Inspire students to develop their own unique voices through creative writing, debating, and structured oracy tasks
Differentiate complex literary concepts to ensure all learners-regardless of ability or background-can access and enjoy the curriculum
Participate in departmental moderation, resource sharing, and the development of innovative schemes of work that reflect the diversity of the Battersea community
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in English Literature, Language, or a related discipline
