Job Responsibility:
Curriculum Excellence: Plan and deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4, with potential for A-Level teaching for the right candidate
Literacy Leadership: Champion a "reading for pleasure" culture and implement strategies to boost students' vocabulary and confidence in written expression
Exam Performance: Prepare Year 11 students for their GCSEs (AQA/Edexcel), using data to target interventions and push every student toward their personal best
Inclusive Practice: Differentiate lessons effectively for a diverse classroom, including high numbers of EAL students, ensuring the curriculum is accessible yet challenging
Creative Engagement: Bring texts to life through innovative teaching methods, classroom debates, and links to contemporary issues relevant to East London life
Faculty Collaboration: Contribute to a high-energy English department, sharing resources and engaging in collaborative marking and moderation
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in English Literature, Language, or a related field
Inner-City Resilience: The ability to build strong rapport with students from diverse backgrounds and manage a classroom with confidence and empathy
Subject Passion: A deep-seated love for the English language and a track record of inspiring students to engage with challenging texts
High Expectations: A belief that every student, regardless of their starting point, can achieve excellence in English
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
