A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and committed Qualified Teacher of English to join a highly-regarded mainstream Secondary School based in the Bury St Edmunds area. This role is crucial to the continued success of the department, which consistently achieves excellent results at both GCSE and A-Level. You will be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5 (depending on experience and preference). Your daily efforts will directly contribute to fostering a stable, inclusive, and academically enriching learning experience for all pupils.
Job Responsibility
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of all pupils and align with the National Curriculum.
Instill a genuine love for English, promoting literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
Rigorously assess, record, and report on pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to support their continuous improvement.
Collaborate effectively with department colleagues to share best practices, develop schemes of work, and contribute to the collective success of the school.
Manage a dynamic classroom environment, maintaining excellent behaviour and upholding the high standards and ethos of the school.
Act as a dedicated Form Tutor, contributing to the pastoral care and holistic development of a group of students.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a closely related field are essential
Proven experience teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 experience being desirable).
A naturally enthusiastic and inspirational teaching style, with the ability to manage and motivate large classes of students.
Excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to professional development.
The ability to quickly establish strong, professional, and trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
