Job Responsibility
Design and deliver stimulating English lessons that cover a broad range of literature, non-fiction texts, and creative writing for students in Years 7 to 11
Assess student work accurately and provide timely, constructive feedback to support their academic growth
Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel confident to share their ideas and explore different perspectives
Work collaboratively with your colleagues in the English department to share resources, plan curriculum content, and contribute to departmental goals
Engage with the wider school community by participating in school events and extra-curricular activities related to English and literacy
Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and well-being
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a must
A degree in English or a closely related field
Experience teaching English at the secondary level, preparing students for GCSE exams
A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for English and a passion for your subject
The ability to adapt your teaching style to meet the diverse needs of all students
Effective classroom management skills and a proactive, encouraging approach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a strong ability to work as part of a team
A Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
