Job Description

The International School of Monza (ISM), part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking a committed and inspirational IB English Teacher to join in August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English Language and Literature teaching within an IB framework, supporting students across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and, where appropriate, the Diploma Programme (DP). This role is suited to a reflective and student-centred practitioner who is passionate about inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and developing confident communicators in an international context. Working collaboratively with colleagues, the IB English Teacher will contribute to curriculum development, interdisciplinary learning and the wider life of the school, while upholding the values of the IB Learner Profile and Inspired Education ethos.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-led English lessons aligned with IB philosophy, objectives and assessment criteria
  • Teach English Language and Literature across IB programmes, adapting content to different ages and proficiency levels
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external IB assessments, as appropriate
  • Differentiate instruction to support multilingual learners and diverse learning needs
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress, provide feedback and inform planning
  • Work collaboratively within the English Department and across subject areas to support interdisciplinary learning
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, moderation and review processes
  • Participate actively in professional development and IB training
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and achievement
  • Promote and model the IB Learner Profile and Inspired Education values
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, including events, trips and enrichment activities
  • Support pastoral initiatives and uphold high expectations for student wellbeing and behaviour

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification and degree in English, Literature, or a related field
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based, concept-driven learning
  • Excellent classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative, reflective and student-focused approach
  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Nice to have

  • Experience teaching within the IB MYP and/or DP
  • Experience in an international or multilingual school environment
  • Familiarity with IB assessment practices and moderation
  • Experience preparing students for IB external assessments
  • Italian language skills (an advantage, not essential)
