Job Responsibility
Plan and deliver engaging, high-impact English Language and Literature lessons that challenge and motivate pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Teach a diverse and rich curriculum, fostering a love for both classic and contemporary literature while building robust grammar and writing skills
Regularly assess and monitor student progress, utilising data to implement effective interventions and ensure all learners, regardless of starting point, achieve their full potential
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom culture that encourages active participation and academic confidence
Collaborate with department colleagues on resource sharing, moderation, and extra-curricular literacy initiatives (such as creative writing clubs or book weeks)
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification, with a degree in English or a closely related discipline
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally welcome and supported
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching English across all secondary age groups and ability levels
Exceptional communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
A reflective practitioner committed to continuous professional development and contributing to a positive team ethos
A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to undergo a new application)
