Job Description

Sotogrande International School is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Secondary English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to join our highly successful ELD team. The successful candidate will be an inspiring language acquisition teacher who can provide effective curriculum support to help students with English as an Additional Language reach their full potential, within our inclusive and intercultural school community.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated English language acquisition lessons to secondary students
  • Plan and adapt units, lessons and assessments with clear, scaffolded learning objectives
  • Support students’ academic language development across the curriculum in collaboration with subject teachers
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and work closely with students, parents and colleagues
  • Use technology effectively to enhance learning (Apple Technology School)
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and school initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English Language Teaching or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Recognised teaching qualification or licence
  • Experience teaching EAL/ELD at secondary level, ideally in an IB or international school
  • Knowledge of IB MYP and/or DP (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition pedagogy and inclusive practice
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in English (additional languages an asset)
